Triple Threat at Cedar Lake: Dalton Williams Scores His Third Straight Win

The Southern Illinois Kayak Club hosted an unforgettable fourth tournament of the 2025 season at Cedar Lake, and what a day it was! The sun was shining, the fish were biting, and our passionate community of anglers came together for another thrilling event.

A huge thank-you goes out to everyone who braved the warm summer heat to make this tournament such a success. Your energy, sportsmanship, and love for kayak fishing continue to strengthen the spirit of SIKC and keep these events something truly special.

Dalton Williams Continues His Dominant Run

Dalton Williams once again proved unstoppable, claiming 1st place with an impressive 92.75” of bass caught on a variety of baits. This marks his third consecutive win, cementing his status as a powerhouse competitor and defending Angler of the Year. Dalton’s ability to stay consistent across different lakes and conditions has been nothing short of remarkable, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down.

Bryson Family Showdown

Nick Bryson put on an early morning clinic to claim 2nd place with 90.50”, landing his entire limit before 7 AM with a buzzbait bite that set the tone for his day. But the story didn’t end there — his father, Jerry Bryson, wasn’t far behind. Jerry sealed 3rd place with 88.00”, including a dramatic last-minute kicker bass caught with less than 20 minutes to go. That clutch catch earned him a podium spot and some serious bragging rights at home!

Big Bass of the Day: Doug Keys’ Cedar Lake Giant

The Heads Up Taxidermy Big Bass Award went to Doug Keys, who landed a massive 22.5” largemouth on a finesse jig — so big it barely fit in his net! This fish was an absolute highlight of the day and a testament to the incredible fishery that Cedar Lake offers.

Huge thanks once again to Midwest Kayak Company for adding an extra $50 to the Big Bass pot at every event this season — your continued generosity makes these moments even more rewarding.
