Newton Lake – April 20, 2024

What a day it was out on Newton Lake! Despite battling a stiff, cool wind, our anglers showed incredible determination and skill in the pursuit of bass. A huge thank-you to everyone who joined us for this fantastic kickoff to the 2024 regular season.

It was a nail-biter from start to finish—first and second place were separated by just a quarter of an inch!

Taking the top spot with an impressive 92.75 inches was Darren Hemker, who found his fish shallow on a jig near the reeds, showcasing expert finesse and water knowledge. He takes home $100 from @ZPRO Lithium, providing serious power for serious fishermen.

In a very close second, Dalton Williams landed 92.50 inches, using a variety of baits including a senko to put together his bag. Third place went to Jonathan Michael Kessler, with 91.25 inches, making a long pedal pay off with some quality jig fish.

Be on the lookout for the latest episode of the Kayak Bass Connection Podcast, where our top three anglers will break down their tournament day.

The excitement didn’t stop there—our anglers absolutely crushed the big bass, with twelve fish over 19 inches caught! The biggest of them all measured 22 inches, landed by Caden Cox, who earned $180 and the Big Bass Award presented by Heads Up Taxidermy.

A heartfelt thank-you to all competitors and to our amazing sponsors who make these events possible. We can’t wait to see everyone at our next stop—Sangchris Lake!
