2023 SIKC Classic Championship – Cedar Lake

The third annual SIKC Classic Championship is officially in the books, and it was one to remember. Anglers battled ferocious winds ranging from 20–30 mph in hopes of lifting the championship trophy, making this the most challenging—and memorable—Classic to date.

A huge shoutout goes to every angler who qualified and made the trip to Cedar Lake. Even in brutal conditions, the fishery did not disappoint, as competitors managed to put together some truly impressive limits.

At the top of the leaderboard, Darren Hemker claimed the grand prize and became the third SIKC Classic Champion. Darren delivered a record-setting 100.75 inches, establishing a new SIKC Classic record. He also took home Big Bass honors with a massive 20.75-inch fish, making for an unforgettable championship performance. Congratulations, Darren!

Finishing in 2nd place, Rece Schneider posted a monster 94-inch bag, finding his fish late in the day on a black and blue chatterbait. A clutch finish under tough conditions.

Rounding out the top three, Austin Weidhuner secured 3rd place with 87.50 inches, thanks to several key late-day culls. Austin put his glass Mojo rod to work, finding success fishing a JackHammer shallow when it mattered most.

A heartfelt thank-you goes out to all the anglers who qualified for and competed in this championship event. The SIKC Classic is the perfect way to kick off a new season, and the continued support year after year truly means the world to us.

We couldn’t be more excited to officially begin the 2023 regular season in just a few weeks at Newton Lake.

A big thank-you also goes out to our sponsors—you make these events possible and help keep the SIKC Classic growing each year.
