Cedar Lake – September 2022

We officially wrapped up the final regular-season tournament of the 2022 Southern Illinois Kayak Club season on Saturday at Cedar Lake. A huge shoutout goes out to all the anglers who joined us and battled through the rain and wind to put bass on their Ketch boards.

Despite challenging conditions, the field rose to the occasion and delivered a strong finish to an incredible season.

At the top of the leaderboard, Dalton Williams earned his first-ever SIKC victory, posting 86.75 inches of bass. With this win, Dalton officially sealed his spot on the SIKC Crossroads Team and finished 3rd overall in the 2022 Angler of the Year standings. Congratulations on a huge milestone, Dalton!

Jake Schultz claimed 2nd place with 84.25 inches, marking his third top-five finish of an impressive rookie season. With this result, Jake also locked up the fifth and final Crossroads Team spot—an outstanding rookie campaign.

Rounding out the top three, Sean Kuppin finished with 80.50 inches, relying on his trusty senko late in the day to secure the podium finish. Sean made a long trip to fish this event, and it was great to see him head home with a little extra gas money for the drive.

A special shoutout goes to Wil Abbott, who landed the Big Bass of the Day with a massive 21.75-inch giant—an incredible catch!

It was truly a great way to cap off an outstanding tournament season. We want to sincerely thank everyone who joined SIKC in 2022. You are the reason this club continues to grow and improve each and every year. We’re excited for what the future holds.
