2021 Southern Illinois Kayak Club Season

The 2021 Southern Illinois Kayak Club season marked a major step forward for the club, featuring strong turnouts, competitive fields, and a season-long battle that kept the Angler of the Year race tight until the very end. From windy spring events to summer heat and tough bites, anglers were tested across a wide range of conditions throughout the year.
With seven regular-season tournaments, the 2021 trail showcased consistency, adaptability, and perseverance. Multiple anglers found success throughout the season, but it was steady performance across events that ultimately separated the top contenders and shaped one of the most competitive AOY races in club history.

Rece Schneider closes out the 2021 regular season with his third win of the year at Sangchris Lake, battling heavy winds in Tournament #7.
Rece Schneider claims his second win of 2021 at Coffeen Lake, jumping into the AOY lead in a tightly contested tournament decided by inches.
Dustin Siegel tops the July Monthly Tournament with 105.50”, as five anglers eclipse the 100-inch mark during one of the hottest bites of the 2021 season.
Dylan Fuqua earns his first win of the 2021 season at Peabody River King, landing a 22” kicker bass on a wacky rig to top the field.
Rece Schneider earns his first win of 2021 at Cedar Lake, as the top three anglers battle the heat during Tournament #3 of the season.
Glenn Banaszak earns his first win of 2021 at Kinkaid Lake, outlasting a tough bite and stingy conditions in Tournament #2.
Mike Gragert opens the 2021 season with a dominant 93” win at Newton Lake, as over half the field posts limits exceeding 80 inches.
