Coffeen Lake – August 2021

Tournament #6 of the 2021 Southern Illinois Kayak Club season, presented by YakAttack, is officially in the books! Our anglers were treated to gorgeous weather at Coffeen Lake, and the competition was intense as this event played a critical role in shaping the Angler of the Year and Rookie of the Year point races. A big thank-you goes out to everyone who was able to attend and compete.

This tournament came down to inches, with the top four anglers separated by just 2.5 inches.

Rece Schneider emerged on top with 79.25 inches, earning his second victory of the 2021 season. This win vaulted Rece into the lead of the AOY standings. To cap it off, Rece also landed the Big Bass of the Day, a 17.25-inch fish, sending him home with some extra cash. Great job, Rece!

Finishing in 2nd place, Glenn Banaszak posted 77.75 inches after finding and camping on a productive flat off the main lake. This result marked Glenn’s fourth top-three finish of the season, keeping him firmly in the hunt to defend his back-to-back AOY titles.

Wil Abbott rounded out the top three with 77.50 inches, continuing his hot streak with back-to-back podium finishes. This strong performance kept Wil firmly in contention for the final spot on the SIKC Crossroads Team.
