Kinkaid Lake – May 20, 2023
Tournament #2 of the 2023 Southern Illinois Kayak Club season at Kinkaid Lake is officially in the books! We’d like to thank all our members who were able to make it out for our second event of the year.
Anglers were treated to an absolutely beautiful day on the water, though heavy boat traffic and a tough, stingy bite made conditions anything but easy. Despite the challenges, several anglers rose to the occasion and cracked the code on Kinkaid.
Darren Hemker earned his first victory of the 2023 season, sealing the win with a key kicker bass caught late in the day on a frog. Great execution when it mattered most!
Dustin Siegel finished in 2nd place, committing to a single point for the entire tournament and catching his fish on a shakey head in 10 feet of water. His patience and consistency paid off in a big way.
Rounding out the top three, Dalton Williams secured 3rd place by dedicating most of his day to fishing a weightless worm around Kinkaid’s abundant grass. Another solid performance in tough conditions.
