Cedar Lake – June 2021

After a very warm day on the water, Tournament #3 of the 2021 Southern Illinois Kayak Club season is officially in the books. We want to thank all of our anglers who made it out to Cedar Lake and competed under tough summer conditions.

As the temperatures climbed, so did the intensity. Our top three anglers absolutely brought the heat, battling their way to the top in a highly competitive event.

A huge congratulations goes out to Rece Schneider, who earned his first victory of the 2021 season. Rece has now finished top five in all three events to start the year and has firmly established himself as a frontrunner in the race to qualify for the Crossroads Team. Outstanding consistency, Rece!

Finishing in 2nd place, Darren Hemker continued to prove that he’s a rookie no more. Darren found success fishing small jigs in the grass, putting together another strong finish as he remained near the top of the standings.

Rounding out the top three, Andrew Garman showed that the “first cast curse” has no effect on him. Andrew landed a 19.25-inch bass, which helped secure his podium finish and earned him the Big Bass of the Tournament, along with some extra cash. Great job, Andrew!
